Metropolis is a small town where riverfront industries brought about the town’s charming 19th-century architecture and bustling central streets. You’ll want to take a stroll around Metropolis’ downtown to see its collection of heritage buildings. One of America’s favorite comic book characters, Superman, is a local hero in this town! Metropolis was designated the official Hometown of Superman by DC Comics in 1972. Be sure to stop by Super Museum and check out their enormous collection of Superman memorabilia and get your photograph taken alongside the towering statue of the superhero.

Super Museum

The world-famous Superman Museum opened in 1993 in the Man of Steel's official hometown of Metropolis, Illinois on Superman Square. This museum showcases over 70,000+ items from the life's work of longtime Superman enthusiast and collector, Jim Hambrick. You’ll discover virtually every Superman toy ever made, movie props, and promotional materials for all the Superman movies and TV series. See one of the only George Reeves Superman costumes still in existence. The Super Museum has been awarded "#1 Small Town Attraction in America". Paducah Riverwalk

The Riverwalk is a wonderful way to see the amazing city of Paducah, Kentucky. Paducah is rich with history and taking a walk along the Flood Walls that have been painted with beautiful murals, will give you a good background of this area’s history. The Riverwalk is dotted with park benches and picnic tables so you can watch the barges flow by on the river. There are also guided trips that you can take along the Riverwalk and the area offers many delightful restaurants.
